About the Artist
Edgar Gabriel is a violinist, composer, and educator widely celebrated as a true 21st-century fiddler who defies genre classification. Though classically trained, he seamlessly moves between Jazz, Rock, Blues, and Fiddle, utilizing improvisation to push musical boundaries and create multi-genre compositions.
His live performances are dynamic and exhilarating, whether he is leading one of his diverse groups like String Shredders or StringFusion, or performing solo. Gabriel brings technical mastery and exceptional versatility to every stage, often sharing his philosophy on music and improvisation through his work as an educator.
Gabriel's remarkable career includes performing and recording with world-renowned artists such as Plant/Page, Andrea Bocelli, Elvis Costello/Burt Bacharach, and Cheap Trick. His genre-hopping expertise even earned him positions with celebrated ensembles like Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. Beyond performing, Edgar is a respected educator on the faculty of Harper and Elmhurst Colleges, passing on his diverse skills to the next generation.
Edgar created StringFusion in 2005 to showcase the violin as a premier jazz instrument and vehicle to present the violin/electric violin as a sound for the future of music. StringFusion has 3 albums to date and can be streamed wherever you find your music.
