About the Artist

Born to Henry and Azella Johnson as the youngest of eight children, this powerhouse vocalist discovered her love for music at an early age. Raised in the rich spiritual foundation of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, she quickly emerged as a standout, serving as lead singer in various church choirs and captivating congregations with her powerful, soul-stirring voice.

Her musical journey continued to flourish during her years at North Chicago Community High School, where she actively participated in choir and musical theater productions. Even then, her stage presence and vocal strength set her apart as a natural performer with remarkable range and emotional depth.

As an adult, she expanded her artistry beyond the church walls, starring in the musical stage production Martin Said So, further showcasing her dynamic performance abilities. Her recording career soon followed, most notably as a featured artist with the National Baptist Convention Choir, where she recorded the spirited and memorable track “Work That Thang Out.” The choir’s album went on to receive a nomination for a Gospel Stellar Award, marking a significant milestone in her professional career.

She also lent her voice to the Glenn Johnson Voices of Inner Peace, recording three songs that highlighted her versatility and commitment to excellence in gospel music. Her extraordinary talent has placed her on stages alongside gospel greats, including headlining for The Winans and the legendary James Cleveland.

Her competitive excellence is equally impressive—earning second place out of 500 contestants in the Coca-Cola Festival, a testament to her standout artistry and commanding vocal presence.
