About the Artist
Currently working her 3rd CD, Maureé’ has engaged the most talented musicians and songwriters in the Midwest for what promises to be a plethora of soul, funk, R&B and jazz hits.
Meanwhile, the songstress performs at a host of local venues, private events, and provides vocal coaching for budding young artists.
As a little girl, Maureé fell in love with country legends such as Tammy Wynette, Lynn Anderson and Loretta Lynn. But as she grew older, she began to study and emulate R&B greats such as Michael Jackson, Natalie Cole, Teena Marie and Cheryl Lynn. Looking back she recalls that all she ever wanted to do was sing. Already serious about her craft at the tender age of 12, she formed a girl group with her sister and two friends. Even then, friends and family knew they were witnessing the start of greatness. This wasn’t a gimmick—Mauree’ was the real deal.
Now an accomplished musician, some of the greatest artists in the industry have called upon the vocalist to provide background support for concerts all over the world. This impressive list includes Michael Henderson, Jean Carne, Academy Award nominee Ray Parker Jr., George Johnson of The Brothers Johnson, Cece Peniston, Martha Wash and Sir Nose of Parliament and Funkadelic fame.
Of course, Maureé's talent isn’t limited to background vocals by any stretch of the imagination. The real treat is watching Mauree’ perform solo. To her credit, she has been the opening act for comedian Bernie Mac, Roy Ayers, George Duke, Stanley Clark, and soul supergroup One Way.
The list of venues and fests she’s covered includes the Jazz Bulls, The Backroom, The Cotton Club, The Green Dolphin, and The Vic Theater in Chicago, as well as the Juneteenth festival in Tulsa, OK, and the Indianapolis Black Expo.
Being such a powerful performer has landed her prominent theater roles along the way. She had the honor of portraying Ella Fitzgerald in the Chicago musical "Songdiva", and performed in the Off-Broadway musical "Imagine Tap" at the Chicago Theater.
Maureé continues to wow audiences all over the world. Fans say “she has a voice as strong and sweet as her spirit”. When she hits the stage, you are observing real musicianship, with sincere passion and heart.
